Top 12 Craft Fiction Books

I don’t know about you but I love to read fiction to relax and switch off.  I have found a few books that help with inspiration for my craft projects as they are craft based.  I thought I would share these craft fiction books with you to give you some ideas of light reading that will help inspire you and get you working on your own craft projects.

Very Valentine by Adriana Trigiana

This easy read isn’t particularly crafty however it follows the story of Valentine who runs her family’s custom shoe shop.  Find out how Valentine gains confidence and inspiration to create her very own shoe designs.

The Thread by Victoria Hislop

This history based novel is loosely craft related however is moving account of the generations of a family.  Based in Crete this page turner is recommended as a good holiday read.

The Woolly Hat Knitting Club by Poppy Dolan

This comedy novel is based around a knitting shop.  Dee is roped into help her brother who owns the shop after he is injured.  After being fired from her office job running the wool shop gives her a change of direction.  This book is filled with stitches, humour and romance.

Where The Light Gets In by Lucy Dillon

This book was a Sunday Times Bestseller, Lorna leaves a life in the city to follow her dreams.  She opens an Art Gallery in her home town that she had previously tried to run away from.  This book is all about second chances.

The Great Christmas Knit Off by Alexandra Brown

Christmas, knitting and romance the perfect combination for a festive read.  After running away from her job and being jilted at the altar, Sybil finds an outlet for her wacky knitted jumpers.  Saving her sanity and a failing local haberdashery.

The Taxidermists Daughter by Kate Mosse

Taxidermy is a craft all in itself.  This novel is about the daughter of a taxidermist and follows her return home to her Father.  This gothic novel is filled with murder, taxidermy and suspicion.

The Miniaturist by Jessie Burton

This novel based in Amsterdam was a best seller and later made into a successful TV series.  The novel develops after newlywed Nella is given a miniature diorama of her home as a wedding gift.

The Friday Night Knitting Club by Kate Jacobs

This novel follows a mixed group of knitters who form a knitting club at a local shop.  Everyone knows how enjoyable a local craft group can be and this novel captures that feeling in a book.

The Glass Blower of Murano by Marina Fiorato

I find glass blowing a fascinating craft which looks like it takes a bucket load of skill.  This book follows the return of Nora to Venice to apprentice as a glass blower that her family have been famous for, for centuries.

The Dressmaker by Rosalie Ham

Tilly returns home to Australia after working as a couturier for a Paris fashion house.  However she returns to home to historic accusations that she had fled from.  Follow how Tilly uses her extraordinary dress making skills to win over the locals.

The Sewing Bee by De-Ann Black

A book packed with sewing, quilting and romance. Great to curl up with while taking a break from your latest sewing project.  Set in the Scottish Highlands it tells of Eevie who looks to make a fresh start working in a quilt shop.

A Vintage Affair by Isabel Wolff

This book is a romance novel based in a vintage clothes shop.  So many of us get out inspiration from vintage items and clothing it can be very inspiring.  This novel really captured the history that can accompany items of clothing.
