Items to help you feel cosy!

The weather has turned colder and although the colder season is not my favourite there are a few things that I really love about when it turns colder.  I thought I would share with you what I enjoy and what helps me keep warm to keep crafting during this time of year.

Winter wool projects

Knitting is probably my favourite craft and it is really frustrating when the weather is just too hot to comfortably knit.  However once the weather has turned colder there is something very cosy and comforting about curling up with a woolly project.  There are some great new wools coming out from www.stylecraft-yarns.co.uk who I love to knit with. If you are looking for your next wooly project have a look at my collection of the best cosy patterns to keep warm this winter https://www.claireyatfairycrafters.com/10-best-cosy-winter-patterns-to-keep-warm/.

Fleecy bedding

I am almost always cold and so I am always on the the hunt for things to keep me warm and toasty.  Last year for my birthday I received a set of the teddy bear fleece bedding.  It is probably up there for my favourite present ever.  It is so cosy and warm and you can easily warm up under the covers on a chilly evening.

Winter drinks

There is something so comforting about curling up with a hot drink and warming up.  I have developed a bit of a habit that I have a hot chocolate before I start work in the mornings.  After the school run it is a little treat before I tackle my order list.  There is a bit of a theme running for my gifts in more recent years and I have also been gifted an Dulce Gusto machine that makes me a delicious frothy hot chocolate at the touch of a button.  I would highly recommend this machine for treating yourself before you begin work each day.

Oversized Hoodie

When at home I would live in my dressing gown and I honestly believed that nothing would sway me from this comfort when at home.  However following yet another birthday I was gifted and oversized hoodie.  This was a revelation.

It is comfortable to wear and doesn’t cut into you like the dressing gown cord does.  Your hands are free to craft  unlike a blanket.  Finally if you are really feeling the cold that day you can put your hood up and feel envolped in fleece.  Another bonus is that you appear more dressed so although you are extremely cosy you are still well dressed enough to answer the door to all those craft supply deliveries.

Scented products

I think that feeling cosy is based around atmosphere as well as how you feel.  There is nothing better than creating a cosy atmosphere than by lighting some candles or a wax burner.  My favourite scents for the colder months is anything that resembles baking.  There are some really lovely scents out there that smell like gingerbread or cinnamon, these can really warm up the atmosphere and help you feel cosy.

Warm bath

When you have got frozen to the bone, which for me is normally when I have been stood on a football field with the children.  There is nothing that properly warms you up quite like a nice hot bubble bath.  There are certain luxuries that you can add to your bath as well to make it a more indulgent me time treat.  Even my kids love a bath bomb, they wouldn’t admit this in public as they are boys and believe it isn’t acceptable.  Bath bombs can be heavily scented making the bath smell incredible, but also can include natural ingredients that benefit your skin.

Touching on the atmosphere again, a bubble bath can be really relaxing if you add some candles to soften the light in the bathroom.  As an extra treat I love to put the towel in the tumble drier and have is super warm when I get out of the bath.

I am always cold and absolutely love to feel warm and cosy.  I am at my most relaxed when I am nice and toasty as well.  Let me know what you love about the colder season or what makes you feel cosy.
