Get creative with your children with these Easter Crafts
Easter will soon be here, it is a holiday that seems to be overshadowed by chocolate. However there are a wealth of Easter crafts that can be undertaken with the children. Looking at Easter or Spring as a theme I have come up with my top 10 favourite Easter crafts for kids. I have looked at a range of crafts that would appeal to children in a range of ages and abilities. So have a scroll and see if any inspire you to get crafting with your little ones this Easter.
Easter Egg Painted Rocks
Here is a really simple craft that can be undertaken by children of all ages and abilities. In addition it would also be fairly cheap to undertake. Simply find some large stones and then paint them. There are a number of communities that have participated in painting rocks. Our local neighbourhood painted rocks and then left them for other children to find, once found the children were to re-hide them for another child to discover. There are even Facebook communities that post which rocks have been found and where so the children can follow where their rocks have been found and hidden.
If you are looking for a guide or tutorial Angela over at Projects with Kids has some ideas and instructions to get you started.
Footprint Carrots
If you have a tiny one in the family, they don’t have to miss out on the Easter crafts fun. At different times of the year there are a number of ways that finger, hand or footprints can be incorporated into decorations. Well Easter is no exception. This is really simple to undertake with even the tiniest helpers, so great for including everyone.
Ariean over at One Krieger Chick has some simple instructions for getting your footprint crafts made up in time for Easter.
Bunny Treat Cups
If like us you organise an Easter egg hunt for your little ones this craft will provide them with a cute container to place all their treats in while hunting. It is simple but gives a really cute bunny effect to the cup.
Debbie over at One Little Project shows you how to create this cute bunny themed treat holder. The instructions call for a foam cup however a paper cup could be easily substituted in to make the craft more environmentally friendly.
Hand print Cards
Along the same line as the footprint carrots mentioned above these hand print cards follow a similar principle. There are a few designs available so a group of children could undertake this project and have a bit of artistic freedom to choose which card they would like to create.
The Best Ideas for Kids and Kim have all the instructions along with a helpful video of how to recreate these cards.

String Eggs for Easter Crafts
These string eggs are a great craft to do by itself or could even be used in order to create some Easter themed decor. Once finished they could be added to a simple vase or tray to form a table centre piece. In the same way these eggs could be incorporated into a wreath to make a hanging Easter decoration. I love a craft that can be made by the children that can then be used to make something else. The children take great pride in having contributed to a larger project.
The instructions for this basic but messy craft can be found from Adrianna’s post on Happy Hour Projects. Again this craft will be fairly cheap to undertake as you only require minimal materials.
Easter Egg Sun Catchers
Windows are a great backdrop to decorate at different holidays and events these sun catcher Easter eggs will really catch the light and each one will be unique once created. A striking decoration that even younger hands would be able to manage.
The instructions can be found in this post by Liska and Jeffery on their family site Adventure in a Box. The basic concept could be adapted to make sun catchers of varying shapes and themes. This would open it up to make decorations for all year round.
Egg box chicks
There are an absolute mountain of crafts that can be made from an egg box so why should Easter be any different? The bonus of this craft is just one egg box will provide enough materials to be able to entertain a number of children, therefore you won’t have to double up on boxes.
Typically Simple’s Kelly will walk you through how to create the cute egg box chicks however free rein can be given to the children to paint and decorate the chicks as they choose.

Sock Bunny
If you have also undertaken your Spring clean recently you may well have a few odd socks lying around. This new sew craft will happily put all those socks to good use. I’m sure a bunny will look cute in any colour combination that you may find socks in.
Creative Jasmine over at Feeling Nifty will walk you through making up your bunny, it is very easy so I am sure that older children would be able to create their own bunnies.
Hoop Bunny Decoration
Embroidery hoops are often used to form the basis of decorations for a range of holidays as well as every day decor additions. By using an embroidery hoop as the frame this bunny can easily be made up by adults and children alike. You can pick colours and patterns that will fit with your decor colour scheme so that you can hang your decoration in pride of place.
Amy Bell of Positively Splendid will walk you through creating a Easter Bunny hoop decoration of your very own. Her example in the pictures looks very rustic in the minimal colour scheme with a basic pin stripe.

3D Tulips
Finally I have chosen these 3D tulips for my top 10 list, more of a spring craft than Easter however they will make a lovely addition to your home during Easter. This could even inspire some Mother’s Day cards or gifts once your little ones get making.
This tutorial by Lindi on Love The Day even comes with very helpful printables, so you are bound to come out with the perfect result.

There are so many crafts out there to choose from, however I feel it is just a good excuse to get creative with the little people regardless of what you choose to do. Just make sure that you leave them to have creative freedom, this is something I really struggle with as I am a bit of a perfectionist even with crafts made by the children.
Let me know how your creations turn out and let me know if there are any other crafts that you love to carry out at Easter time with your brood!
